House District 92 deserves better

Since ballots will soon be in the mail, I have some concerns about our local elected representative, Mike Hopkins.

If you’re not familiar, Mike moved here from California where his mommy was busy suing Danville, California for two years over his traffic tickets. She later also sued the moving company who brought her here to the house she bought for little Mikey in the South Hills. She even sued the local Republican Women’s group when they weren’t running the way she thought they should.

Is Mike really a Republican? He talks a big game, but what did he do when he was actually in Helena voting? Last session, Mike worked with the Democrats as the sponsor of a bill (HB 652) for the state to take out $80 million in more debt to cover a myriad of pet projects around the state, including the Seeley Lake Sewer District. At four percent for 20 years, we’ll be paying back $125 million including interest.

So when $40-an-hour plus benefits Jean Curtiss brings the County Health Inspector to threaten locals into “taking the money,” just realize it’s money your “Republican” representative helped borrow on your behalf, not free from the state.

Mike Hopkins also works directly with many Democratically aligned dark money groups. Not only has he worked directly for UM, but he works directly with MontPIRG and Forward Montana, two left wing dark money groups who boost turnout and collect information on voters EXCLUSIVELY for the Democratic party. He also has worked to make the county pay postage on all ballots. Collecting voter information for Democrats, working to expand county budgets, working with Democrats to borrow almost $100 million for state pork projects, does this sound like a Republican to you?

I grew up in Seeley Lake schools and am the fourth generation of my family to live in this district. Our House District shouldn’t be awarded to some South Hills California transplant as a trophy so Vondene can think Baby Huey done good. Vote down Mike and next time, let’s rally around someone honest with an investment in the community and accountability to their word and actions.
