Seeley Lake Leos Club to assist with census and voter registration

SEELEY LAKE – The Seeley Lake LEOs Club is volunteering to help members of the community complete the census and their voter registration Monday through Friday from 12-3 p.m. at the Seeley Lake Public Library.

For more information or to make an appointment call Leos Club Advisor Mary Stone at 406-677-2224 Ext. 5731. Students will meet the community members at the back door and escort them into the building.

Community prayer time, Sept. 26

SEELEY LAKE – The community is invited to join in a time of prayer Saturday, Sept. 26 at 10 a.m. on the lawn north of the Seeley Lake 1-Stop on Highway 83. This time of cooperate prayer was organized by Seeley Lake churches Faith Chapel, Holy Cross Lutheran, Mission Bible Fellowship, Mountain Lakes Presbyterian Church and Seeley Lake Baptist Church.

Pastors from the churches will take turns leading the group in prayer for different issues that are on their hearts. Some of the issues identified by the pastors include unity, national unrest, division, pandemic, people living in hopeless situations, healing and the community.

“It is our heart to see the Christians in Seeley Lake area gather and pray together,” said Pastor Gary Wayne. “Everyone is invited and we are hoping for group participation as we pray.”

Those that attend are asked to park in the back of Seeley Lake 1-Stop and walk to the lawn. Please bring your own chair if desired.

Canine Fun Days - Oct. 3-4

SEELEY LAKE - Montana Mountain Mushers is holding a free dog mushing clinic Oct. 3 and Oct. 4 at the West Side Bypass Trailhead, four miles north of Seeley Lake. All beginning or experienced mushers, runners and bike and scooter enthusiasts are invited.

Participants will run dogs Saturday from 8-11:30 a.m. with instruction available and again on Sunday from 8-11 a.m. There will be hands-on training for everyone and time for questions.

Everyone is invited to a Montana Mountain Mushers meeting at the Morrell Creek Trailhead Shelter just north of Seeley Lake on the east side of the highway that day starting at 12 p.m. Saturday. They will have pizza available for donations and a brief meeting will follow the lunch.

Whether you are interested in becoming a recreational musher, want to start skijoring, bikejoring or scootering, or would like to race, this clinic is a must for you and it is FREE. All skill levels are invited. Registration is required.

Deadline for registration is Oct. 1. Please pre-register so there are plenty of ATV’s, scooters, bikes or other rigs available as well as handlers to help.

Weekly COVID-19 update

As of Sept. 21, there are 10,429 cases of COVID-19 in Montana. There are 2,393 active cases, 576 total hospitalizations with 108 active, 7,876 recoveries and 160 deaths in Montana due to COVID-19 complications. Missoula County has had 621 cases, has 145 active cases with four currently hospitalized, 473 recovered and three COVID-19 related deaths. There are more than 694 close contacts being monitored and in quarantine. According to the Department of Health and Human Service’s Wednesday, Sept. 16 report there were 6 cases reported at the University of Montana and no other cases reported in Missoula County schools. Potomac School learned about their first case Monday, Sept. 14.
