Lady Blackhawks sweep first meet

HAMILTON – The Seeley-Swan High School Cross County team made a great showing at their first meet of the season Sept. 12 in Hamilton. The Lady Blackhawks won the team title by 14 points over four A Schools. Dillon took second and Corvallis placed third in the meet.

Emily Maughan led the Ladies with a time of 22:07.85 taking fifth place. Her sister Sariah was right behind her taking sixth in the meet with a time of 22:16.29. Kyla Conley and Ava Thornsberry came in taking 11th and 12th places with Conley crossing the finish line in 23:08.65 followed by Thornsberry, 23:12.29. Hannah Ayers sealed the team's win placing 22nd with a time of 24:39.54.

The lone Blackhawk Conner Chadwick had a breakout day finishing the race in 25:05.51.

Head Coach Shawn Holmes said, "He ran a great race as a freshman and the first race of his career."

This week the Cross Country team participated in the Mission Invitational in St. Ignatius Tuesday, Sept. 15. They will travel to Twin Bridges Friday, Sept. 18 for another meet starting at 10 a.m.
