Daines, be honest and tell us how you will bring back jobs

Steve Daines’ campaign ads that claim he will bring back the jobs from overseas suggest he is either stupid or naive.  Here’s why...

The jobs, if they ever were in the U.S, went overseas because there is cheaper labor and less government regulation - hence more profit for the companies that went there. Until those things change, U.S. companies will continue to base their manufacturing overseas.

Should a company decide to return its operations back to the U.S. there’s a good chance it will not be able to find workers to perform the labor-intensive, repetitive tasks it needs performed for the pay it offers to overseas workers. U.S. workers will not work for the two or three dollars per hour they get overseas. That’s why we have migrant farm workers, folks. Understand the spike in many food products this year was because the U.S. closed its borders as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic and barred migrant workers from coming to the U.S. to pick our crops.

U.S. government regulations, federal, state and local, though well-intended, are really expensive and drive up costs. So politicians like Mr. Daines have to be honest in their advertising and tell us just HOW they’re going to lower business costs and entice those businesses to return.
