Local students graduate, recognized on Dean's List

This spring, area students received degrees and were recognized on university Dean’s Lists for academic excellence.

University Graduates

The University of Montana had 1,863 students who are degree candidates for spring semester 2020. Samuel Aldeen of Condon received a Bachelor of Arts: History. He graduated magna cum laude with a GPA of 3.7-3.83. Kaila Olson of Potomac received a Bachelor of Arts in Education: Elementary Education. Olson graduated cum laude with a 3.4-3.69 cumulative GPA and was on the President’s List for the spring semester after earning a 4.0 GPA.

UM graduates from Seeley Lake included: David Rich, Bachelor of Science: Mathematics; Tonya Smith, Master of Education: Education Leadership; and Kaylee Walter, Master of Science: Speech Language Pathology.

Dean’s Lists

The University of Montana Western named 570 students to the 2020 spring semester Dean’s List including Seeley Lake students Paige Holmes and Laura Devins. They were enrolled full-time and carried a minimum 3.33 grade point average. Both Holmes and Devins received Dean’s List high honors.

At the University of Montana, 2,892 students made the spring semester 2020 Dean’s List or President’s 4.0 List. To qualify, students must be undergraduates, earn a semester GPA of 3.5 or higher and receive grades of A or B in at least nine credits. Students who receive any grade of C+ or below or no credit (NC/NCR) in a course are not eligible.

Students that made the Dean’s List from Seeley Lake: Shenoah Curley Wildshoe, Jacob Haley, Chance Johnson, Keaton Johnson, Ashley Miller and Nino Robinett. Lily Mercer and Kayla Bodri from Condon made the spring semester Dean’s List. Students on the President’s List from Potomac included Caleb Klaus and Kaila Olson. Gavin Haines of Missoula, son of Seeley Lake’s Brett Haines, also made this semester’s Dean’s List.

Carroll College in Helena named 31 students to its 2020 spring semester Dean’s List including Seeley Lake students Brittany Cory and Nicole Williams. To be included on the Dean’s List, a student must receive a 3.5 grade point average or higher on a 4.0 scale and take at least 12 graded credits in a semester.
