Student reflections on COVID-19

April 8

Today I woke up thinking about how many new emails I got this morning from school. Enjoying not having to wake up at 6 o’clock every morning to catch the bus, being able to sleep in because of this virus. Getting out of bed, doing my school work online.

This morning I ate eggs and toast for breakfast. Now looking out my window at the blue sky glad I am not at school. After breakfast my dad and I were going to haul equipment but not realizing the frost was coming out of the ground made it very soft and easy to get stuck. So we did not haul the equipment. We came home at lunch and went and worked on the log loader.

Tomorrow is supposed to be a beautiful day. I am excited for some sunshine and warm weather.

Today I woke up thinking about an online test. Wondering when the virus and all the chaos is going to settle down a bit. I had a bowl of cereal, then went to feed my dogs. Trying to get all my online schooling done and turned in on time.

I look out my bedroom window looking at the frost on the ground hoping it will warm up so I can go on a dirt bike ride this afternoon. Me and my dad went for a dirt bike ride on the backroads it was pretty fun but kinda challenging because there was quite a bit of snow still on the ground we had to ride through. We saw a lot of deer and it was really sunny out.

Kinda enjoying being able to sleep in, getting used to this online stuff. When I got back I made a hamburger for lunch. It was really tasty. After that I went and did some chores outside for my mom, I racked her arena so she could go ride her horse. Fed my dogs and burnt some boxes. All in all it was a pretty good day and a nice day also.

After this journal entry, I am going to try something new like a drawing or something. But for this Journal I am going to write about a pretty cool day I had this week.

On Wednesday I woke up and had a bowl of this really good cereal my mom bought. After that I went down to my dad’s shop and helped his employees wash and work on equipment so that was pretty cool. When I got done doing that I went up to my house and did my school for that day. Then I went and hung out with my neighbor Cameron. He is 13.

We went and helped my mom pile brush over at our new property. When we were piling brush we noticed all this wire all over the place. My dad said if you pile this brush and pick up all that wire, I will buy you a shotgun. I have been getting into duck hunting but didn’t have a shotgun. I have a really nice chocolate lab that I have been training to retrieve ducks. She has excelled very far and she is a very good dog.

After all that me and my friend went on a dirt bike ride on our backroads it was really fun. We found this really cool spot to ride in the woods with lots of jumps and fun stuff like that. That’s pretty much a wrap for my highlights of the week.
