50/50 Ice Off Challenge kicks off

Editor's Note: This article was updated Thursday, April 2. The Tamaracks Resort will be partnering with Alpine Artisans, Inc. (not the Chamber as originally published) for the big event following the lifting of COVID-19 restrictions.

SEELEY LAKE – The ice going off Seeley Lake is a long awaited event for Seeley Lake residents and visitors alike kicking off the spring season. While the ice on the south end of the lake opens up starting at the end of March, the ice at the north end of the lake is the last to go.

Tamaracks Resort, with support from Alpine Artisans, Inc., is holding a 50/50 Ice Off Challenge this spring. They are inviting the public to participate in the guessing game for the hour and date the ice will be gone with the chance to win some money. Half of the pot will go to the winner and the other half will support the Chamber’s first big event with live music following the lifting of the COVID-19 restrictions.

“We really want to create something that will get people excited about spring, help out one lucky person financially and partner with [Alpine Artisans, Inc.] to bring an event to Seeley Lake when COVID-19 is over,” wrote Tamaracks Resort owner Jessica Kimmel in an email. “On a personal note, stimulating the economy of our little town and giving us all something to look forward to is really important to me.”

How to play: Pick a date and time the ice will come off Seeley Lake north shores and submit your guess online at http://www.tamaracks.com/ice-off. Guesses are $10 per hour covering the full 59 minutes during that hour (example: 9-9:59 a.m.) The 6 p.m. time slot is the last guess of the day and will cover overnight until 6:59 a.m. the next morning. There is no limit on guesses.

The Tamaracks Resort web cam will be the official record of ice off date and time. All guesses must be in by 6 p.m. Sunday, April 12. To watch their live web cam, visit https://www.tamaracks.com/live-web-cam
