Partnership with local Trout Unlimited chapter "amps up" restoration program

How many of you have enjoyed a concert on the banks of the Blackfoot River at the Kettlehouse Amphitheater? Did you know that every time you buy a ticket, a portion of those funds go directly to our efforts to restore the many tributaries-and ultimately trout populations, within the Blackfoot River watershed? Our partnership with the concert promoter tied with this venue--Logjam Presents, and their initiative called the Blackfoot River Fund, allowed us the opportunity to expand our efforts and we had what was undoubtedly one of our most productive restoration years since the Blackfoot River watershed came into focus over 32 years ago.

• Over 2.5 miles of Nevada Creek restored, preventing thousands of tons of sediment from being washed downstream every year.

• Over 50,000 willow cuttings installed to ensure long-term streambank stability on Nevada Creek.

• One new fish screen installed in a diversion off Nevada Creek to prevent trout from being lost to the river.

• Over twenty different fish screens maintained ensuring irrigators get their water and fish remain in the streams and rivers.

• Over 4,488 gallons per minute of cold, clean North Fork Blackfoot River water dedicated to instream flows by upgrading a landowner's irrigation setup.

• One mile of road system relocated away from Copper Creek ensuring sediment from the old system isn't washing into the stream.

• Stream restoration designs finalized to improve habitat for native trout populations on over four miles of streams in 2020.

When you consider what we were able to implement on the ground benefitting cold, clean, complex and connected habitat while working alongside public and private partners, we are even more inspired and motivated for 2020. The funding from Logjam Presents and all the concert goers taking in some incredible music with the Blackfoot River flowing by in the background allowed us to leverage over $1,000,000 put directly towards our effort to restore and conserve the native trout fishery of the iconic Big Blackfoot River watershed. We appreciate all of your support and make sure you check out this summer's music lineup!
