Smiles and laughter make winter a little brighter

SEELEY LAKE – More than 100 people came out to ice skate and play in the snow Saturday, Feb. 8 for the Seeley Lake Elementary Winterfest. The enthusiasm was tangible as children of all ages and adults enjoyed ice skating, sledding, snow shoeing, skiing, making snow persons and snow sculptures.

The hot dogs and snacks served by the Seeley Lake Lions Club disappeared half way through the six-hour event. There was plenty of fresh snow and flavoring for the homemade snow cones and fires to warm up. All the children enjoyed the candy scramble in the playground. There was also a fireworks show sponsored by the Chamber, Citizens Alliance Bank and Blackfoot around 6 p.m.

The two silent auction items and donations raised $343 for the Seeley Lake Elementary library.

"The success of the event can best described in speaking to the smiles on our students faces, the faces of their parents, grandparents and those in the community," wrote SLE Superintendent Daniel Schrock. "It was a pleasure to partner with the Chamber of Commerce, SLE ROCKS and the SLE staff who worked together to provide this opportunity for the kids of SLE and the Seeley Lake community."
