Seeley-Swan victorious over Drummond and Lincoln

SEELEY LAKE – The Lady Blackhawks and Blackhawks defeated the Trojans of Drummond on the road Feb. 7 and Lincoln Lynx at home Feb. 8.

The Lady Blackhawks put Drummond down early, outscoring them nearly three to one in the first half and they didn't let up. Final score was 62-28.

Two Lady Blackhawks scored into the double digits with Klaire Kovatch hitting 8 of 11 shots for 16 points and Bethany Hoag scoring 13 including hitting 7 of 11 free throws. Emily Maughan had a pair of three pointers while Taylor Dillree, Terra Bertsch and Sariah Maughan each had one.

Bertsch and Sariah led in steals with five each.

Lincoln met a similar demise as Drummond. The Lady Blackhawks led 25-13 at the half and blew the game out in the third quarter scoring 23 and allowed only two free throws for the Lynx. They finished them off 63-26.

Aspen Conley led the Lady Blackhawks against Lincoln with 15 points. She hit one three-pointer and three two-pointers and scored 6 of 7 free throws. Kovatch followed Conley with 14 points and Bertsch scored 13. Bertsch led with 6 steals while Emily had 6 deflections.

Drummond: 5, 6, 10, 7 - 28

Lady Blackhawks: 14, 11, 23, 15 - 63

Lincoln: 7, 6, 2, 11 - 26

The Boys took an early lead over Drummond extending it to 12 points by the half and held on for the 59-45 victory.

Sawyer Shelmerdine and Walker McDonald each scored 15 points to lead the Blackhawks. Quinlan Ream added 11 points. Dakota Wood had a pair of three-pointers on his way to 8 while Chase Haines and Brayden Rodriguez had five points each.

The Blackhawks took a sizable lead over the Lynx early in the game but it was far from over. The Lynx battled back to within a couple baskets early in the fourth quarter. The Blackhawks were able to break the Lynx's rally and finish them off 59-40.

Ream scored 16 points to lead the Blackhawks followed by Rodriguez with 14 points. Wood and McDonald had 9 each while Haines scored 6 and Seth Richardson put up 5.

This week the Blackhawks and Lady Blackhawks head to Darby Feb. 14 with JV Girls starting at 2:30 p.m. The final home game will be Feb. 15 with JV Boys starting at 1:30 p.m. Senior Night will follow the JV games.
