Fire Department spreads holiday cheer

SEELEY LAKE – The Seeley Lake Fire Department lit up the night Dec. 21 with their lights and Christmas music as they delivered gifts to 16 families in Seeley Lake. This was part of the second annual Angel Tree sponsored by the Seeley Lake Volunteer Firefighter Foundation and the Seeley Lake Rural Fire District.

This was Fire District volunteer Caitlyn Long's first year organizing the event. She said on Dec. 10 they still had 15 angels on the tree. They put out a post on social media and community members picked up all the angels but two by the next day. They were brought back wrapped and ready to be delivered within a week.

Saturday night, the volunteers loaded up the second ambulance with gifts and delivered them to local residents in a caravan of emergency vehicles. Thirty-six children received gifts thanks to the generosity of the community.

"I think it went really well. The community really helped us out," said Long who is looking forward to organizing the Angel Tree again next year.
