Tis the season for giving

SEELEY LAKE – Around 15 families filled stockings at the Tamaracks Resort Giving Tree Sunday, Dec. 15. This was the first year for the event sponsored by Tamaracks Resort and Montana Girl.

Sheila Czifro, owner of Montana Girl, remembered a time when she received a food basket for Christmas.

"You never know what day you may be needing something," said Czifro. "I know what it is like to wonder."

Last year Czifro purchased food cards for people she heard needed help.

"I just wanted to do something to give back to anyone that needs it," said Czifro. "We thought this year teaming up as businesses would create a greater impact."

Owner of Tamaracks Resort Jessica Kimmel added that it an easy way to help and be part of the community.

"There is always someone that needs something," said Kimmel.

The Giving Tree was loaded top to bottom and underneath with gas and grocery cards, warm winter gear, toys and gifts for kids, gifts for him and gifts for her.

"It was a reverse giving tree," said Czifro. "Instead of putting the names on the tree, we put the stuff on the tree and you came and got stuff off of it. We tried to get a little bit of everything."

Once the gifts were chosen, gift wrapping and wrapping supplies were provided as well. Everyone who attended was entered into a drawing for Montana Girl's huckleberry fudge.

Tamaracks Resort and Montana Girl are hoping to make this an annual event adding more businesses and activities next year.

"We want to thank everyone so much," said Kimmel. "It is really great to be able to give back."
