Lady Blackhawks stomp Lynx

LINCOLN - The Seeley-Swan Lady Blackhawks defeated the Lincoln Lynx on the road Oct. 19. The Ladies, won in three sets, 25-16, 25-18 and 25-18.

The victory was extra sweet for the Lady Blackhawks as the Lynx were one of their two early season losses to conference foes. They have a 7-2 in conference record with a week left to play in the regular season before heading into District tournaments.

Klaire Kovatch scored a third of all the team’s kills with 11 kills out of 19 attempted and just 7 errors. Sariah Maughan and Bethany Hoag together had another third of the kills with 6 and 5 respectively. Kovatch, Maughan and Hoag each had 2 solo blocks as well.

While the Lady Blackhawks did great at the net, Head Coach Tammy Lewis said the match was won with solid serving. The Lady Blackhawks only missed 2 out of 75 serves and had 8 aces. Taylor Dillree was responsible for half the aces.

This week the Lady Blackhawks are on the road at Alberton to take on Clark Fork Oct. 24 with JV staring at 5:30 p.m. and then host Plains Oct. 26 with JV starting at 4:30. Being the final home match of the season, it is Senior Night. Senior volleyball players will be recognized between the JV and Varsity matches.
