SEELEY LAKE – Stageline Pizza is partnering with the Seeley Lake Fire Department Saturday, Oct. 12 as part of Fire Preparedness Week. Fire Chief Dave Lane and Department volunteers will be delivering pizzas from 12-5 p.m. as a fundraiser for the Fire Foundation*. They will have free smoke detectors and batteries to hand out and will be available to answer questions and provide information about volunteering.
Stageline Pizza owner Pat Sheridan approached Seeley Lake Fire Chief Dave Lane with the idea since he saw this partnership work well in Wisconsin.
"It seemed like a win-win all the way around," said Sheridan. "Seems like in these small towns no one appreciates the fire department until their house is on fire. Just an opportunity for good community relations."
Lane said it is a great opportunity for outreach into the community during Fire Prevention Week. Volunteerism is down across the country so this offers the Department an opportunity to share about what they do and see if community members have an interest in volunteering.
"If we are out delivering for [Stageline], we can seize that opportunity to answer questions, talk more about what we do and what we can do for prevention," said Lane. "We are trying to improve our image within the community."
The volunteers will also have batteries and smoke detectors that they will be handing out. If someone needs help changing the batteries or installing their smoke detector they can schedule an appointment.
The Fire Foundation* will receive 15 percent from all orders sold from 12 – 5 p.m. and will get to keep all the tips and delivery fees while they are delivering.
