Blackhawks dominate Pirates

VICTOR – The Seeley-Swan Blackhawks walked all over the Victor Pirates Oct. 12 bringing their season record to 4-2 and leaving the Pirates winless.

The Blackhawks found success on the ground and in the air. They rushed for 229 yards with an average of 10 yards per carry and completed 9 of 15 attempted passes for 156 yards.

The game was a blowout with the Blackhawks scoring four touchdowns in the first quarter. A touchdown in the second quarter put the Blackhawks up 40-0 going into the second half. A pair of touchdowns in the second half brought the final score to 52-0.

The team spread the points out with seven Blackhawks in total putting points on the board. Dakota Wood led the with 3 touchdowns while Owen Hoag, Caleb Maughan, Walker McDonald and Ben Haley all scored one touchdown each. Hoag, Maughan, Kaden Thornsberry and Owen Mercado each took in a two-point conversion.

On the ground Mercado led the Blackhawks with 142 yards averaging nearly 18 yards per carry. Mercado also led in passing completing 8 of 12 for 138 yards. Wood and McDonald received two passes each for 73 and 29 yards respectively.

On the defense, the Blackhawks had 6 sacks pushing the Pirates back 33 yards. McDonald led with 3 sacks and had 4 solo tackles. Eric Lorentz also had 4 solo tackles.

This week Blackhawks Head Coach Jay Crum says the team really needs everyone to come cheer them on as they face the #2 ranked team in the state, Clark Fork, Oct. 11 at 7 p.m.

Being the final home game of the season, it is also Senior Night where seniors in football and cross-country will be recognized ahead of the game at 6:45 p.m.
