Chillax at the Seeley Lake Huckleberry Festival

SEELEY LAKE – The Seeley Lake Huckleberry Festival and end of summer blowout is this Saturday, Sept. 21. Organizer Michelle Brumfield encourages everyone in town to enter the huckleberry cooking/baking contest, bring a picnic lunch and a game to share and come over to The BBQ Pit and Fat Hippie’s parking lot on Highway 83. The no host event is sure to be a lot of fun.

The first annual Festival starts around 10:30 a.m. with no published end time. There will be a cake walk and face painting for the kids and open mic/jam session for the adults. Bring a lawn chair, games and musical instruments and join in the fun. Steve Wilson Construction will be serving hot dogs until they run out.

Everyone is invited to enter the Huckleberry cooking/baking contest for a chance to be named Huckleberry King and Queen. Businesses are encouraged to enter their best huckleberry product for a chance to win a traveling trophy and annual bragging rights.

A panel of judges will decide the winners that will be announced at 3 p.m. Pick up an entry form at Fat Hippie or Heritage Plumbing. Please return your entry form by Sept. 18 so enough tables are available.

“I thought it was kind of like an end of the year party,” said Brumfield. “We just want everyone to come chillax, visit and have some family friendly fun. I’m trying to bring us all together.”

Brumfield is still looking for volunteers and for baked goods for the cake walk. Please call Michelle at 406-207-0880 to help out.
