Forest Service fee increases, drug addiction at next Council meeting

SEELEY LAKE - Like so often, the Sept. 9 meeting of the Seeley Lake Community Council promises an ambitious agenda.

Linda Howard of the Missoula Aging Services will explain the various options available during the open enrollment period for Social Security and the ACA.

Drug addiction and prevention will be the next topic, covered by Shannan Sproull, Substance Abuse Prevention Specialist of the Western Montana Mental Health Center.

Then Kellen Palmer, the new Seeley-Swan High School principal, will introduce himself to the community. He will be followed by Seeley Lake Elementary School’s new Superintendent Daniel Schrock.

Seeley Lake District Ranger Quinn Carver will talk about the recreational fee increases at campgrounds, etc. and give an update on USFS activities.

Finally, the Council will have an update on the trail along Highway 83.

Like always, there will be an opportunity for public comments on non-agenda items.

The informal part of the meeting will start at 5:30 p.m. next Monday, Sept. 9 at the Seeley Lake Historical Museum and Visitors Center, 2920 Highway 83, with pizza and water. The formal meeting begins at 6 p.m.
