Suffering for Christ – Our cross to bear

Sometimes because of my log’n days, I wake at 3-4 in the morning. I just lay there think’n about the body of Christ.

Here in America we have thus far such freedoms – a good life style, for the most part, and go to church of Saturday or Sunday, depending on your persuasion or denomination or non-denomination. When people ask me what religion I am, I tell them I’m a follower of the Way – I get funny looks from many.

Christians in a lot of foreign countries who suffer terribly for Christ may think Americans are playing church. Pastors in those countries are sometimes shot right in front of their families, leaving women with children with no means of support.

Enter “Voice of the Martyrs.”

For many years I’ve given what I could to this Godly group of folks, who try and find those who suffer for the name of Jesus Christ.

Voice of the Martyrs was founded by Pastor Richard Wurmbrand who suffered 14 years of brutal torture, while his wife Sabina was treated as a slave in a labor camp. That happened when the Russian army marched into Romania. The Communists took over where the Nazis left off.

That can’t happen here, right? We have the Constitution and the first and second amendments. Well look at the far left socialists who are trying to get control of our politics and government.

Pastor Wurmbrand wasn’t always so Godly. As a young man, by his own account, he was a great sinner-a real party animal. But sometimes these are the ones God uses the most.

My dear old Mother said many times, “We all have our crosses to bare. Jesus said to them all, “If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me,” Luke 9:23. It’s hard to deny ourselves and realize our cross.

I seldom suggest any studies or books unless they’re exceptional. This video and study may change you forever. To really appreciate the movie, anyone should read the book first, “Tortured for Christ.”

The book and video would be good for your family or church group, regardless of your denomination. Filmed in the same prison where Pastor Wurmbrand was tortured in the late 40’s and 50’s. It is a quality film.
