Men of Worth return to Seeley Lake

SEELEY LAKE – Alpine Artisans' 2 Valleys Stage is bringing Men of Worth back to the Seeley Lake community for the first time since 2013. They will perform a community concert on Feb. 10 at the Seeley-Swan High School auditorium.

The folk-music duo, Men of Worth, was formed in 1986 by Irishman James Keigher and Scotsman Donnie Macdonald. It was through the Celtic music scene in Southern California that James and Donnie first met and formed a musical partnership. Geographical changes now find James and Donnie living in Southern Oregon and Northern California respectively. While they remain true to their Gaelic roots, Men of Worth have successfully evolved as exciting and versatile entertainers through their travel and school outreach.

Macdonald comes from the Isle of Lewis, one of the Hebridean Islands off the west coast of Scotland. Writing tunes and original songs in both his first language, Gaelic, and in English, Macdonald presents the music from his native Scotland with passion and humor. He performs on vocals, octave mandolin, tenor banjo, concertina and bodhran.

Keigher comes from County Mayo in the west of Ireland. He is a singer, writer and collector of traditional and contemporary folk music. He was raised in Charlestown, a small rural community rich in traditional music and stories. He performs on vocals, guitar, mando-cello and bodhran.

Men of Worth blend their voices with harmony and support their collection of songs with their varied selection of instruments. They have a simple approach to their presentation, while staying true to tradition in the music and story. Their show is a unique combination of humor, exciting tunes, and heartfelt ballads.

Men of Worth are an international act and have earned much respect and success in over 30 years of touring together. They are known for cultural presentations in schools, for performing in concerts and festivals, and for 12 albums.

This is an event you will not want to miss at 3 p.m., Feb. 10 at SSHS. Tickets will be available at the door, $14 for adults and $12 for seniors.  Children 18 and under are free.
