The first puck drops Friday for annual Pond Hockey Tournament

SEELEY LAKE – The four rinks on Seeley Lake in front of Lindey's Prime Steak House are ready to welcome 34 teams for this year's Seeley Lake Pond Hockey tournament, Jan. 4-6. The community is invited down to the lake to enjoy the tournament.

With the cold temperatures and very little snow, Tournament Organizer Megan Lindemer said the ice looks great this year.

"We just hope it stays that way," said Lindemer.

This year Lindemer said they split the B Division in two – Competitive and Intermediate.

"The B league was just getting so big," said Lindemer. "We added another division to kind of break it up and make it more fitting for the level of players."

There are five teams in the most competitive division "Cup" previously known as the A Division. Seven teams will face off in each of the Competitive and Intermediate Divisions. And 10 Co-Rec teams and four teams in the Women's Division will play against each other.

Each team plays one game Friday, two games on Saturday and at least one game Sunday, depending on if they make it into the championship round. Games start between 4-5 p.m. on Friday and 9 a.m. Saturday and Sunday mornings. Championship games will be Sunday afternoon.

Spectators are invited down to watch the games for no charge and warming fires will be going. Anyone interested in volunteering at the event is encouraged to attend the volunteer meeting Thursday, Jan. 3 at 7 p.m. at Lindey's Prime Steak House.

The up-to-date schedule will be available on the website seeleylakepondhockey.com. Also, follow Seeley Lake Pond Hockey Facebook page for announcements and updates.
