Notice to public regarding Forest Service roads and Motor Vehicle Use (MVUM ) Map

Due to existing weather conditions (limited low elevation snow) the Seeley Lake Ranger District is notifying the public of some exceptions to the 2015 Lolo National Forest Visitor Use Map. These exceptions are to provide the public some wheeled vehicle motorized access until snow conditions change and are favorable for over-the-snow use and associated trail grooming.

The following roads will be open to wheeled motorized use until Dec. 15 unless snow conditions change:

• Cottonwood Lakes Road (FSR 477) – Open to just past the gun range on the west side (near airstrip)

• Rice Ridge Road (FSR 720) – Open to Auggie Morrell Rd (FSR 4361)

• Auggie Morrell Road (FSR 4361) – Entire length open

• West Morrell Road (FSR 4353) – Open to Auggie Morrell Rd (FSR 4361)

• West Side Bypass Road (FSR 2190) – Open from Fawn Creek Road (FSR 4349) south to “Dogtown” County Road 69

• Horseshoe Hills Road (FSR 46942) – Open to gate above Big Sky Lake

Due to ongoing salvage logging operations on the District this winter there will be times when over-the-snow motorized use is restricted. These restrictions are to provide public safety and safe logging operations. Please look for and abide by all signage pertaining to road restrictions. Also please contact the Seeley Lake Ranger District 677-2233 with questions regarding closures and salvage activities.

Thank you!
