Temporary Closure in the Wild Bill Area

Swan Valley – Forest roads 9888 and 9891, which are part of the 920 Truman Creek Trail, will be closed to off-highway vehicle use, Monday-Friday from Aug. 2 – Sept. 7.

 This road restriction is in place for public safety during logging and hauling operations associated with the Swan Lake District, Dewey Stewardship Sale.

 While recreating on the Flathead National Forest, users are advised to use caution on roads and not to block gates on haul routes. Additionally, please report any road damage, or road issues of concern to your local forest service office.

Sewer Preliminary Injunction Hearing Changed to Aug. 14

SEELEY LAKE - The hearing on a preliminary injunction in the Larson versus Seeley Lake Sewer District and Missoula County lawsuit originally scheduled for Aug. 7 has been moved to Aug. 14 at 3:30 p.m. at the Missoula County Courthouse, 200 West Broadway.

“Wildlife Biologist Talks Elk & Where You’ll Find them,” Aug. 11

SALMON LAKE - Join Scott Eggeman, Montana Fish, Wildlife, and Parks Area Wildlife Biologist for the Blackfoot Watershed for a campfire program about elk ecology and management at Salmon Lake State Park campground, Aug. 11 at 7 p.m. The presentation will be at the picnic tables behind the camp host booth.

Eggeman manages habitats for four Wildlife Management Areas, resolves wildlife conflict issues, and also carries out land conservation projects. His focus is working with terrestrial game while being responsible for elk and deer management, as well as black bear, mountain lion and furbearer harvest management. He completed elk research in the beautiful Banff National Park, in Alberta, Canada.

For his program, Eggeman will focus on elk ecology in the Blackfoot, and share his experiences with the local Elk Management Program.

Campfire programs are FREE and open to the public.

Summit Insurance Agency Customer Appreciation Day, Aug. 17

SEELEY LAKE – Past, present and potential Summit Insurance Agency customers are invited to the annual Community Appreciation Day Aug. 17 from 12-2 p.m. at the Seeley Lake office, 131 School Lane. Attendees can enjoy a free barbecue lunch, drinks and fun.

“It’s an opportunity for me to say thank you to my customers after more than 15 years in Seeley Lake,” said owner Tom Monaghan.
