Some Seeley District Roads Remain Closed Due to Flooding

SEELEY LAKE - Roads on the Seeley Lake Ranger District are still experiencing impacts from flooding. Several roads continue to have closure orders in place. The following roads remain closed:

• Upper Beaver Finley Road #9974 near Boles meadow due to standing water on the road.

• Morrell Mountain Road #4365 due to culvert washout.

• Grouse Creek Road #4342 due to culvert washout.

• Rice Ridge Road #720 between Camp Creek road #685 and Richmond Ridge road #667 due to washout.

• Camp Road #36019. Closed at the intersection with Road #4379. Closed indefinitely until a new structure can be installed.

District staff is monitoring roads for flooding impacts and welcome observations from the public. Road conditions can change quickly and the public is asked to be prudent in traveling on soft roads or roads that are compromised by debris flow or downed trees. These closures are being addressed as quickly as possible to ensure public safety and continued access.

In addition to road closure orders, some roads are experiencing maintenance, reconditioning, bridge work and/or culvert replacement. With few exceptions, the roads will remain passable for Forest visitors but delays between two - four hours can be expected. Additional, short-term road closures may be necessary for some larger infrastructure project work.

District Ranger Rachel Feigley said, “I recognize the impact some of the road closures and contract work have on our Forest visitors. We appreciate the public’s cooperation while the work is completed. I encourage the public to call our office for up-to-date information on road status.”

Those traveling on forest roads should check Alerts and Notices on the Lolo National Forest website at https://www.fs.usda.gov/detail/lolo/home/?cid=FSEPRD577941 for current road closure information or visit the Lolo National Forest Facebook page for periodic updates https://www.facebook.com/lolonationalforest/

MHP Seeks Public Opinion

HELENA - The Montana Highway Patrol is conducting a public opinion survey with the help of consulting company OrgVitality. The purpose of the survey is to seek proactive input from the public regarding Patrol operations.

“Other states such as Colorado have received impactful feedback from surveys such as this. We hope to emulate their success and use the data to help inform our choices moving forward in a way that improves the quality of our services and public interactions,” said Colonel Tom Butler, Chief Administrator of the Montana Highway Patrol.

The public can access the survey at https://rpt.orgvitality.com/MHPSurvey. This link will also be located on all of MHP’s social media sites, as well as the Patrol website. Business cards with information about the survey will be provided by troopers for every contact they have with the public beginning on June 15. It will run approximately six to eight weeks depending on the analysis of the statisticians at OrgVitality.
