Fundraising for Fourth of July Celebration Begins

SEELEY LAKE – The Seeley Lake Area Chamber of Commerce has begun their annual Fourth of July fundraising efforts. The largest expense is the fireworks show over Seeley Lake. This year's goal is $8,000. Progress thermometers are on Highway 83 south of Cory's Valley Market and at Parts Plus and in Citizens Alliance Bank's lobby.

The community can donate to the celebration in several ways. The Chamber is a part of the Change Your Pace Challenge in collaboration with the Seeley Lake Community Foundation. From May 24-Aug. 3 donations to the Chamber will be matched and applied to the fireworks.

Checks need to be made out to the "Seeley Lake Community Foundation" and the Change Your Pace brochure filled out choosing the Chamber and amount of the donation. Checks can be mailed to the Foundation at Box 25, Seeley Lake, MT 59868 or dropped off at their office in the Bison and Bear Center. Donors' names and dedications received by June 22 will be printed in the June 28 issue of the Pathfinder.

Several local businesses are also doing raffles to support the fireworks display. All Decked Out, Good Times and The Painted Nail put together a Glamour Basket with more than $200 worth of gift certificates, hair products, lotion, room spray, bath wrap, candle, nail polish and foot care. All proceeds will go towards the fireworks.

Tickets are $5 each or $20 for five tickets. They can be purchased at Good Times or All Decked Out.  Drawing will be held June 15 and the winner need not be present to win.

Good Times Owner Dena Turner said they decided to do the raffle because there are so many people that support the local businesses during the Fourth of July and they all love the fireworks.

"Instead of one business giving a cash donation to the Chamber for fireworks, the winner will get pampered with the glamour basket and get something in return," wrote Turner.

The Filling Station will be giving away a large rubber raft in May (drawing June 1) and an inflatable Intex Oasis Island in June (drawing July 2).

Tickets for both raffles are $5 each or six tickets for $20. They can be purchased at the Filling Station. Winner need not be present to win.

"It's my way of investing my donation to raise even more money for the firework display," said Filling Station Owner Kris Martin.

There are also donation cans for fireworks out at Cory's, Rovero's, Good Times and Citizens Alliance Bank.
