Brigadier General David Hodne will be the next Commandant of the United States Army Infantry School at Fort Benning, Georgia.

FORT CARSON, COLO. – The Department of the Army announced that Brigadier General David Hodne will be the next Commandant of the United States Army Infantry School at Fort Benning, Georgia. In addition to serving as the Chief of Infantry, he will also be the Director of the Army's Future Soldier Lethality Cross Functional Team (CFT). This CFT will be a component of the Army Futures Command responsible for developing capabilities more rapidly to better enable soldiers to fight and win on the battlefield.

General Hodne is currently serving as the Deputy Commanding General for the 4th Infantry Division stationed at Fort Carson, Colo. He is married to Helena native and fellow West Point Classmate, Shelley Berry-Hodne. An officer herself, Shelley retired from the U.S. Army in 2012 at the rank of Colonel. Shelley is also the daughter of Tim and Sandy Berry, longtime residents of Seeley Lake.

Shelley visited Seeley Lake since she was a child. She first introduced Dave to Seeley Lake after they graduated from the United States Military Academy in the summer of 1991. Inspired by the beauty of this quiet mountain community, Dave and Shelley are regulars here.

The Hodne family purchased their Seeley home before the birth of their first child in 2005. As an Army family constantly moving into new households all over the country, Dave and Shelley felt it important to provide a "driveway" their children would always recognize as their true home. Almost 13 years later, their home in Seeley Lake has remained their 'Happy Place' in between Dave's numerous tours to Iraq, Afghanistan, and elsewhere throughout the world. They look forward to being full time Seeley Lake residents when Dave eventually retires from the Army.
