Bridges Announces Run for House District 92

"Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it's the only thing that ever has."

That's a quote by Margaret Mead that I have embraced all my adult life.

Hi, I'm Lee Bridges and I'm running as a Democrat to represent House District 92 in Helena. I've lived in our District since 1984. I recognize that while we may have differences on some issues, our core Montana values are essentially the same. We live in one of the most beautiful areas in Montana and we'd like to keep it that way for ourselves and the generations that follow.

We as Montanans have more in common than we have differences. Through communication and education, we can build common ground on controversial issues. I listen to everyone's opinions and ideas to formulate solutions to problems. With your help, I can take this experience to Helena to Build Bridges to Common Ground for sensible legislation.

I have been involved in community issues for decades. I helped form the East Missoula Sewer District in 1996, to successfully circumvent annexation by the city of Missoula. The Sewer District not only protected our downstream water system, but also maintained our community's unique character and independence. The 20-year contract we established with Missoula has bought us time to work with Missoula County to custom tailor zoning in our un-zoned areas. As a resident in that un-zoned area, I am grateful for the freedom it's allowed my neighbors and me to build and grow cottage industries.

I spent seven years on the East Missoula Volunteer Fire Department as a First Responder and Medical Training Officer, until I began my apprenticeship in the Sheet Metal Workers Union. I was in the trade for 18 years until the shop I worked for went out of business and I bought out the equipment. I now have my own sheet metal shop here at home.

As a participant in Montana Art Council's Artrepreneur Program since 2015, I've built custom wool processing equipment to demonstrate and market at regional fiber shows.

As a board member on the East Missoula Community Council, I've been working to upgrade our growth policy to represent the desires of the people living in our community, making sure the county government understands the strength of our community voice. I'm seeking to take my leadership skills to the State level and look forward to the opportunity to serve our House District as a State Representative, if elected. I would appreciate your vote.

I'm starting a "Listening" Tour to hear the concerns of my neighbors. I'm planning to travel to our communities weekly and visit with the residents.

I currently live happily here in East Missoula with my fabulous husband and three wonderful girls...all rescues, all Shelties.
