"Community" is Key!

With this summer’s highly unfortunate fire activity, evacuation warnings and orders, we all learned important lessons: Being good stewards and neighbors is far more important than promoting negativity, pointing fingers and being critical of others. What we experienced this summer as a result of the significant threats to property and life, was people putting their differences aside, neighbor helping neighbor and the entire community of Seeley Lake coming together to assist one another through extremely challenging times.

As we move forward from this summer’s fire danger and the impact it had on the Seeley Lake community at large, we need to remember these lessons: engage with one another in a manner that promotes a positive culture and vibrant community, agree to disagree without being disrespectful and celebrate the wonderful attributes of this community we all love.

The landowners within the Double Arrow Ranch are very much a part of the Seeley Lake community. The demographics within the Double Arrow Ranch are quite diverse with a mix of landowners who are native Montanans, folks from other states and countries who have made Seeley Lake their home (either on a part-time or full-time basis), vacationers and people who own undeveloped lots.

Like others in the Seeley Lake community, there is a deep breadth of experience and talent among the landowners, including local business owners, engineers, law enforcement, fire and safety officials, skilled trades, people who work in service industries, folks with medical and legal backgrounds, those who currently serve (or have served) in the military, environmentalists, retirees, parents and grandparents alike, etc. Notwithstanding the vast diversity of the landowners within the Double Arrow Ranch, we all have a vested interest in the community of Seeley Lake.

The residents of the Double Arrow Ranch support many of the community events and we are always looking for ways to further enhance our collaboration and relationship with the community of Seeley Lake. We support conservation initiatives, the arts, education, philanthropy, local businesses and recreation.

As we look back on the tribulations from this past summer, the Double Arrow Ranch Land Owners’ Association (DARLOA) will be looking at ways to improve our fire mitigation efforts and our emergency preparedness in anticipation of other natural challenges and/or disasters that we may face. It is our intent to work closely with the Seeley Lake community as we examine any improvements that can be made to protect the community, our homes and the safety of individuals.

If you would like to know more about us or have ideas for greater collaboration with DARLOA and/or the Double Arrow Ranch landowners, you can call the office or visit us in the Bison & Bear Center on Highway 83.
