From $22 to $460 in Three Months

SEELEY LAKE – When Kindergartner Jesse Wink came up with the idea to raise money for Seattle Children's Hospital this summer he started with $22. After three months he raised $460.09 and presented the check to his doctor at his appointment in August.

Wink's goal was to help children who are facing Chiari Malformation, a condition where the brain grows into the spine. He was diagnosed with Chiari Malformation before he was two years old.

Wink raised money by having a refreshment stand, holding a bake sale and putting out cans around Seeley Lake to raise money. He also made purple ribbons to sell during the Fourth of July celebration. Finally, for his sixth birthday, Aug. 29, Wink asked people instead of getting him a birthday present to donate to his cause.

Wink thanks everyone who helped out and those who made a special stop at his bake sale. He said he feels so much love from all the help that was given. And he got to eat the cookies that didn't sell.
