To Sewer or Not to Sewer?

SEELEY LAKE - That is the question. Ah…summer at Seeley; sun, sand, swimming, sailing, skiing, surfing and the….sewer. That’s right, all that fun and a big decision too.

That is why I have decided to dedicate some of my time this summer to help sort out facts from fiction regarding this important topic. I hope you will do the same. If you are a property owner in the Sewer District, you will have the opportunity to seal the fate of this controversial issue during the month of October.

In the meantime, there will be lots of information being disseminated from various interested parties on both sides of the issue. There will be mailings, public meetings, websites, news articles and Letters to the Editor. Your job is to take some time to include all of this into your summer reading and activities, so that you can make an informed decision in the fall.

There will be no shortage of opinions, data, facts and information. Some will come from people who will state their opinions as facts, some from experts in the fields of water quality and sewer system design and construction.

Some will prioritize their personal finances above the proposed “greater good” of water quality and the economic health of the Seeley Lake community.

Your challenge will be to decide for yourself what is in the long-term best interest of your family, your property and your community. This will not be an easy task but there is no doubt, it is an important one.

I know I will be taking a break from the summer fun to focus on this decision. I hope you will join me by doing so as well.
