Senior Alex Bohlman sends the javelin down the field for a new school record of 144 feet, 1 inch, 3.5 feet farther than her record-breaking throw from the previous week. According to statistics on Athletics.net, her throw is the farthest so far this year in all Montana Class C schools, third in all classes of high schools in Montana and 20th in the nation.
Sophomore Nate Samuli throws the javelin at Frenchtown. He broke his personal record by nearly 20 feet with a throw of 149 feet, 7 inches, earning fifth place at the event.
Sophomore Chloe Robbins sends the shot flying. Robbins set a personal record of 31 feet, 9 inches and finished seventh out of 47 throwers at the event.
Senior Tessa Grimes throws the discus at the Kim L. Haines Memorial track meet. She threw just over 101 feet at the meet earning tenth out of 51 competitors and setting a new personal record based on statistics available at Athletic.net.
Sophomore Kyle Peltier leads his heat of the 100-meter dash. He finished in 13.11 seconds, setting a personal record more than a half second faster than his previous best.
FRENCHTOWN - The Seeley-Swan Blackhawks ran, jumped and threw to new levels setting personal records (PR) and in the process, breaking two school records at the Kim L. Haines Memorial track meet May 6.
Lady Blackhawks Cera Strumpfer and Alex Bohlman each set new school records. Strumpfer cleared 9 feet, 10 inches to break Shawna Nemmers 1996 record of 9 feet, 9 inches. The jump earned Strumpfer first place in the event.
Bohlman took first place and furthered her own school record from last week throwing the javelin nearly four feet farther to 144 feet, 1 inch.
Based on statistics available on Athletic.net, a dozen Blackhawks and a dozen Lady Blackhawks set 42 new personal records.
The Lady Blackhawks took third place at the meet earning 55 team points while the Boys earned 30 points for eighth place.
In addition to her first place in the javelin, Bohlman also took first in the 200-meter and third in the high jump.
Ashley Miller earned a fourth place and set a PR of 33 feet, 7.25 inches in the triple jump. Miller also set a PR in the long jump with a 15 foot, 5 inch jump.
The Lady Blackhawks 4x100 relay team placed second and 4x400 relay team came in third.
On the Boys side, the 4x400 relay came in first while the 4x100 relay took sixth.
Logan Maughan earned the team's only first place for an individual event completing the 800-meter with a time of 2:08.27.
Hunter Shelmerdine and Keaton Johnson earned fourth and fifth in the 400-meter while Nate Samuli took fifth in the javelin. Samuli's throw of 149 feet, 7 inches was a PR by nearly 20 feet.
Cameron Haines cleared 10 feet in the pole vault for sixth place and a new PR. Haines also set PRs in the 100 and 200-meter events.
The Blackhawks head to the District 13C meet at Frenchtown, May 12-13.
