Well our Cakes for Canines event Monday, April 3 at Pop's Place was a howling success! Thanks to Tim and Connie Clark for donating all the food and good service. Special thanks to Doug Richards, his sign and standing out in the cold in a dog suit getting lots of honks and waving people in.

Vicki Scalise once again has rescued a sweet older dog with complications but is getting love and help from Vicki. Vicki is a great supporter of animals and because of her and in honor of her husband Ed Jackson we have helped many people and pets. Please thank her if you see her for all she does.
We had a huge feral colony of cats on Redwood Lane last year. Due to Pat Shanes "never give up attitude" I believe she probably took 20 cats to FOX HOLLOW and got them spayed or neutered with some help from The Ed Jackson Fund. But money does not pay for the effort and lives saved by Pat. All cats were returned to their colony and we do not have starving kittens due to her constant effort.
It is tick time again. Get your flea and tick collars on your dogs. Yes, we do have ticks here. A collar also keeps fleas and other biters off also.
Talking about collars, had it not been for Bill Mackie picking up a Rottweiler, calling me and finding help to locate the owners, and Littlebird and Randi offering to take the dog if owners could not be found, someone could have stolen this friendly guy. The frantic owners did locate their dog. Come on guys get a collar and tags on your dogs with ID, Thanks Bill, Littlebird and Randi.
Another case! If a stray dog comes to your home, it is dangerous to put it in your fence with your dogs or children. Also, everyone should know that you can take a picture of the dog and send it to Andi at the Pathfinder and she will put it on Facebook. Try not to call Animal Control unless you feel in danger. You may also call me as many people call me when their dog is missing.
This last case, everyone in town knows this dog, although their was no description on the paper left at Cory's. If you had, someone would have called you and the owner. True he had no tags, so tell him to go home, don't put him in your yard, so he can't go home.
Now off the track. Great article in Pathfinder on Laura Devins wonderful art of making beautiful cakes so let's support this new business.
We should be proud and support our young shooters Justin Thomas, Ibby Lorentz and Sam Weisenburger by donations or bake sales for gas money on their trip to nationals in shooting.
Blessings to all, Elinor Williamson, 210-9014
