Five-Year Plus USFS Project at Next Council Meeting

SEELEY LAKE - Air Quality in Seeley Lake will kick off the meeting of the Seeley Lake Community Council next Monday.

Ben Schmidt, Missoula County Air Quality Specialist, wants to start a general conversation on wood stoves and air quality with a focus on the neighborhood immediately south of the elementary school (see the Place for All column on page 4 for more information).

Rachel Feigley, USFS District Ranger, will follow with a discussion of the Center-Horse project, an extensive forestry project along the southern boundary of the Bob Marshall Wilderness Complex. Work is to begin this year and will likely last at least five years.

Next will be Mike Hopkins, our new Montana House Rep. He will update us on the current legislative session in Helena. Hopkins also wants to hear from the Seeley Lake community what our priorities are for the legislature.

Mike Sunderland, our own resident Sheriff’s Deputy, will talk about the need for additional speed signs in downtown Seeley.

Finally, the council will discuss the status of its Trails Committee.

Like always, there will be an opportunity for public comments on non-agenda items.

The informal part of the meeting will start at 5:30 p.m. next Monday, Feb. 13, at the Seeley Lake Historical Museum and Visitor’s Center, 2920 Highway 83, with pizza and sodas.
