Blackhawks Split Another Week

SEELEY LAKE - The Seeley-Swan Blackhawks had a solid victory over Clark Fork but fell to Plains this week. They now have an 8-6 overall record.

Versus Clark Fork

The Blackhawks took on the Clark Fork Mountain Cats in Superior Jan. 27.

After taking an early lead, the Blackhawks blew the game out in the second quarter. They extended their 17-point lead at the half to a 50-27 victory.

Bradley Miller led the Blackhawks with 13 followed by Cameron Haines who hit 3 three-pointers for his 9 game points.

Miller hit 4 of 4 free throws helping the team to a 75 percent average from the free throw line.

Also scoring: Keaton Johnson 8; Chance Johnson 8; Nino Robinett 6; Avery Smith 4 and Cordell Turner 2.

Versus Plains

The Blackhawks hosted the Plains Horsemen Jan. 28. The Horsemen are one of the top ranked Class C teams in the state.

The Blackhawks took an early 9-4 lead but fell behind as the Horsemen hit 4 three-pointers in a row. After that, Blackhawks shut down Plains' three-point game only allowing them a single three pointer in each of the remaining quarters.

In the second quarter, the Blackhawks got in a little foul trouble. They gave up 6 points on foul shots to the Horsemen.

By the third quarter, the Blackhawks cleaned up their game and nearly matched Plains. In the end they fell 45-78.

Bradley Miller had another solid game scoring 20 points to lead the Blackhawks. Cameron Haines also broke into the double digits with 13.

The Blackhawks hit only 50 percent from the free throw line.

Also scoring: Avery Smith 5; Keaton Johnson 3; Cordell Turner 2 and Hunter Shelmerdine 2.

This Week

The Blackhawks and Lady Blackhawks host Drummond Feb. 3 with games staring at 2:30 p.m. The varsity girls and boys then head to Lincoln Feb. 4 with a 4 p.m. start time.
