Getting People Back to the Things They Love to Do

SEELEY LAKE – Starting Jan. 1, Dr. Jeff Engel will be the new chiropractor in Seeley Lake. Engel purchased Lance Bohlman's chiropractic business and said he looks forward to serving local clients and bringing his wealth of health information to Seeley Lake.

Engel was raised in New Richmond, Wisc. He originally began his undergraduate studies in athletic training. He felt that there was more to do for people than he was capable of doing purely from an athletic training standpoint. He decided to look at a more holistic option.

Engel pursued his Doctorate of Chiropractic (D.C.) from Northwestern Health Science College of Chiropractic in Bloomington, Minn. He moved to Missoula to do his internship at W. Chiropractic Incorporated.

"I wanted to get out of the Midwest," said Engel. "I wanted to try something different. It's like most Midwest people who come out here; they fall in love with the mountains."

Engel opened his own practice, Optimum Health and Wellness, in Missoula in 2011. He focuses on acute pain relief, back, neck pain and headaches. He also has background in sports injuries, rehab, weight loss and nutrition.

"You get the whole spectrum," said Engel. "Some people just want to get out of pain and some people know that there is more to chiropractic care from being healthy and maintaining to improving sports performance."

Engel was working part-time in Missoula. After chiropractor Lance Bohlman asked him about extending his services to Seeley Lake he agreed and purchased the business.

"I know it is important to have someone up here and I had that ability," said Engel.

"Jeff [Engel] has a kind and caring personality that I believe the community will adapt to quickly.  He's very much an outdoorsy person and loves the area and is excited to blend into the community," wrote Lance Bohlman in an email.

"Nothing will really change," said Engel. "[Bohlman] said it is going to be very turn-key for me."

Engel is capable of treating all ages from newborns to those in their 90s.

"The best part about my job is people get almost instant relief and can get back to doing the things that they love to do," said Engel. "When people have been struggling for months and after a couple of adjustments they are almost 100 percent better. That's my goal."

Engel is very active himself. He enjoys hunting, fishing, Cross Fit and yoga. He strives to be a healthy role model for his clients.

"I want to bring all that knowledge for what it takes to live a healthy lifestyle," said Engel.

Engel will be open Mondays from 2:30-4:30 p.m., Wednesdays 9 a.m. – 12 p.m. and 2:30-4:30 p.m. and Fridays from 9 a.m. – 12 p.m. His office is located in the Lazy Pine Mall, Suite L. Call 406-677-3617 for an appointment. Walk-ins are welcome during business hours.

Engel said, "I'm looking forward to helping the community and being a source of health information to the people of Seeley Lake."
