Lady Blackhawks Strike Back

The Seeley-Swan Lady Blackhawks played matches on the road last week against two teams that had beaten them earlier in the season. First Drummond and then Charlo fell to the Ladies as they improved their record to 5-1 in conference and 6-3 overall.

Versus Drummond

The Lady Blackhawks took on the Drummond Trojans Sept. 29. The Trojans beat the Lady Blackhawks earlier in the season in four games but the Ladies had different plans for their second matchup.

Game one went to the Trojans 20-25 but the Lady Blackhawks came back and took the match winning the next three games, 25-22, 25-20 and 25-17.

“Alex Bohlman had a terrific night and with great performances from Andi Bohlman and Tessa Grimes, they led their team to a very satisfying win,” said Lady Blackhawks Head Coach Tammy Lewis.

Alex led the Ladies with 16 digs, 12 assists, 13 kills and 5 blocks. Andi added 7 kills and led with 4 stuff blocks while Grimes and Mary Strumpfer had 3 aces each.

Versus Charlo

The Lady Blackhawks headed to Charlo to take on the Vikings Oct. 1. The Vikings handed the Ladies their first loss of the season the last time the teams met.

Coming off their win against Drummond, the Lady Blackhawks were on a roll. They rolled over the Viking in three straight games to take the match, 25-16, 25-22 and 25-17.

Lady Blackhawks Head Coach Tammy Lewis said that this was the second match in which Autumn Morse had been moved from the libero to the second setter position.

The change in position helped free up Alex Bohlman from setting. It showed in the match against Charlo as Morse led in assists with 9 and Alex led in kills with 10.

Morse also led with 3 aces while Ashley Miller led with 11 digs. Andi Bohlman had 4 stuff blocks and Tessa Grimes had 6 blocks.

“I was very proud of the team we put on the floor this week,” said Lewis.

This Week

The Lady Blackhawks play two matches this week starting in Darby Oct. 6 with games starting at 5:30 p.m. The Ladies then host the Clark Fork Co-op for homecoming Oct. 8 with a varsity match at 6 p.m.
