Response to Missing Seeley Lake Community Council Forum

SEELEY LAKE - On Monday Sept. 19, I was scheduled to attend a candidate forum in Seeley Lake as a candidate for Secretary of State. Unfortunately, I was unable to attend due to unexpected issues which arose at the State Auditor’s office during the day.

My apologies to the Seeley Lake community for the absence. I did communicate via email to the organizers earlier in the afternoon that day to alert them of the change in my schedule.

Continuing to oversee our insurance and securities industries, while protecting consumers, is my first priority in the job as State Auditor. That means campaign events get cancelled from time to time.

Although I missed the forum, my opponent and I debated the prior week and it was aired on Face the State last Sunday. For those who are interested, I would encourage you to check it out on YouTube.

I deeply respect the people of Montana and have traveled hundreds of thousands of miles to speak at meetings and events in communities large and small. I have always done my best to accept as many invitations as possible.

I take my responsibilities seriously and will continue my commitment to serve the people of Montana as long as you care to have me in office.
