Blackhawks Take First for C Schools at Ronan, Sixth Overall

RONAN - The Seeley-Swan High School boys Cross Country team did well at their meet in Ronan, Mont. Thursday, Sept. 15. This meet marked the first time that we have had six boy runners compete on the team.

It takes five runners to be considered a team when competing against AA, A and B schools. The top five SSHS boy finishers ran in a group, separating out in the last mile.

The boys beat Darby, Arlee, Charlo and Granite and placed sixth against the larger schools. The team is hopeful it will have all seven of its members (Lane Mackie-Wendel wasn't able to run at Ronan) at the Mountain West meet this coming Saturday, Sept. 24 at the University of Montana with the varsity boys starting at 11 a.m.

Cera Strumpfer was the highest placer on the girls' team. She ran a great first mile. Amber Springer was the only other girl to compete on the course.

The girls will compete in the Mountain West Meet Saturday, Sept. 24 following the varsity boys at 11:45 a.m. The middle school race will begin after the varsity girls are off the course. Tentative Schedule is 12:20 p.m. for the Middle School boys and 12:45 p.m. for the middle school girls.
