Either a Singing Career, Paris or a Pink Chicken Coop

Salmon Prairie Graduation

SALMON PRAIRIE – Graduate Addie Anderson's friends and family filled the Salmon Prairie one-room schoolhouse June 2 to participate in her eighth-grade graduation.

Anderson spoke of her two fondest dreams. She wants to audition for "The Voice" and have a successful singing and songwriting career. She said she hopes to travel to Nashville, Tenn., work hard to get a record deal and record an album.

Anderson also wants to go to Paris, France. "It sounds like such a beautiful and magical place full of flowers and gardens. I have wanted to go there since I was little."

Anderson said, "If all that fails, I will move into a pink chicken coop next to the school." This brought a laugh from the audience.

Salmon Prairie teacher Holl Hubbard later explained that Anderson has mentioned moving into a pink chicken coop since she first came to Salmon Prairie as a second grader.

Anderson thanked Hubbard for teaching and listening to her. She named each member of her family who attended her graduation and thanked them for supporting her.

She told a special story about her Grandpa Lyle. He gave her sister and her nicknames. She drew another laugh when she said she thought her sister got the prettier nickname Rosebud while she was called Precious. "I thought it meant earlobe." Anderson said.

Hubbard said he got to know Anderson very well in the six years she was his student. He told the attendees that she has matured into a confident person who knows what she wants and who she is. Hubbard looked at Anderson's parents and said, "How do you convince her otherwise once she has made up her mind? She is a strong individual who will stand up for herself."

Anderson said, "I loved Salmon Prairie School and I'm very sad to leave but I'm also ready for high school.
