Lady Blackhawks Set Records and Take Second at State

MISSOULA - The Seeley-Swan Lady Blackhawks finished out their season earning second place at the State Class C Meet May 28. The team finished with 62 points, four short of first place Plains with 66. All six of the Lady Blackhawks who went to state came home with at least one medal.

The Lady Blackhawks set a new State Class C Record and school record in the 1600-meter relay. Teammates Alex Bohlman, Paige Holmes, Stephanie Robbins and Lily Mercer competed the relay in 4:03.92.

They shaved more than two seconds off the previous state record set in 2014 by Seeley-Swan. Alex and Paige were a part of the 2014 team along with Marge Henrekin and Keanna Conley.

The Lady Blackhawks took first place in the 400-meter relay as well, setting a new school record. Andi Bohlman joined Paige, Alex and Lily finishing in 51.05. Their time was less than a second off the state record. Amy Hahn, Teresa Frye, Shawna Broderick and Penny Pagett set the previous school record of 51.13 in 1984.

Alex led the ladies in individual points placing in every event she competed in. She took third in the 200-meter and javelin, fourth in the 400-meter and fifth in the 100-meter and high jump.

Stephanie brought home medals in three individual events. She ran to third in the 1600-meter and took fourth in the 800 and 3200-meter events.

Cera Strumpfer earned a third place in the pole vault while Lily earned a fifth place in the 400-meter. Lily finished just off the podium in seventh place in the 800-meter.
