Please Pause for Pets and People

The Cakes for Canines on March 16 held at Pop's Place was a great success! Thanks to the many who showed up in support our much needed animal shelter! Big thanks to Tim and Connie who donated all the eggs, bacon and cakes. Thanks to Doug Richards for all his helpful art work and the great cakes which were grabbed up quickly. The lamp and nightlight crafted by Monty Montgomery were beautiful and all of the squares for a chance to win one filled up quickly which sure helped our fund!

Mary Anna and Nancy from the board showed up at 7:15 a.m. as well as I to help but Juan Santa Anna and Rick Bartells were already there. Rick did a great job as dishwasher and Juan Santa Anna ran circles around us so called waiters, but we got to see and visit with great people. Juan, who is also a photographer, donated an offer for two pictures of the lucky bidder with their dog which was great! I bid and got the wonderful quilt and knitted wrap that Louise Cameron sent.

Hazel got a chance to visit instead of walking through the snow feeding dogs for a while and her husband got to babysit six little dogs all by himself while she was gone.

Jo, member of the board was the water girl and did a great job.

Rod Stevens Construction as always came through with great bags of dog food and cash. Thanks to the many who brought dog food and goodie treats.

A lady told a wonderful story of her life to Hazel and I of having not much love when growing up and then not being able to love. She did try to get help but still held her feelings in not knowing how to get them out.

Then one day she was told she needed to get a dog. She said no, I don't like dogs. Then she began to think about a dog and she got one. Now she says she found out what love was, the dog taught her love and she found herself able to love and she so loves her dog. It was sad but so warming to hear her story.

People a dog will teach you to love and we all need that. To the lady, please feel free to call me and we will talk. My number is 210-9014, leave me your name and number. You made our day!

We cannot thank Tim and Connie enough for their generosity and caring, and of the others who came because you cared, we need to be very thankful we have a shelter and people like Pat Shane or so many pets would suffer, we need more support from others!

We will be having a bake sale in May so start baking now as winter is back and stick it in the freezer. We will need lots of goodies and your support. We cannot help those in need with out your help.

Thanks to so many and special to a special person who donated a big donation to The Ed Jackson (helping Pets) Fund and to Paws Up Shelter.

Blessings to all

Elinor Williamson
