Blackhawks' Season Ends at Divisionals

HAMILTON - The Seeley-Swan Blackhawks season came to an end at the Western C Divisional Tournament but they didn't go down without a fight. The Blackhawks dropped the opening game to Ennis. They then eliminated Shields Valley before falling to Valley Christian in their final game.

The Blackhawks end their season with a record of 10-14.

Versus Ennis

The Blackhawks came head-to-head with Ennis in the opening round of the divisional tournament Feb. 25.

The Blackhawks matched Ennis 11-11 in the first quarter but Ennis was able to build a 7-point lead by the half and extended it to 12 by the end of the third. The Blackhawks put up a good fight in the final quarter, outscoring Ennis by a narrow margin but were unable to catch up. Final score was 53-63.

Cameron Haines led the Blackhawks with 19 points. Jacob Haley was close behind, scoring 17 points. Haines hit 5, three-point shots while Haley hit 4, three-pointers. The Blackhawks did well from the free-throw line sinking 8 of 11 attempted.

Also scoring: Joshua Cahoon 5; Nino Robinett 3; McKinley Nicholas 3; Chance Johnson 2; Keaton Johnson 2 and Gunner Sloan 2.

Versus Shields Valley

The Blackhawks faced Shields Valley in their first elimination game Feb. 26.

Shields Valley led the Blackhawks throughout most of the game, even holding a double-digit lead at times.

The Blackhawks headed into the fourth quarter trailing by 5 but weren't ready to go home quite yet. After chipping away at Shields Valley, the Blackhawks finally caught them with five minutes remaining.

The teams traded the lead back and forth. With less than two minutes to play Joshua Cahoon sunk a short jumper to tie the game at 50-50. The Blackhawks held off Shields Valley while putting up 5 more points to a 55-50 victory.

Cahoon and Jacob Haley led the Blackhawks with 14 points each. Both had 2, three-pointers and Cahoon nailed 4 for 4 from the free-throw line. Cameron Haines had 3, three-pointers helping him to 11 game points.

Also scoring: Keaton Johnson 7; Gunner Sloan 5 and Billy Bedson 4.

Versus Valley Christian

The Blackhawks took on Valley Christian for the second time in two weeks. The teams met last week in the District 13-C championship.

The Blackhawks fared better this week though they still couldn't overcome Valley Christian.

The Blackhawks kept pace with them with the exception of the second quarter where Valley outshot the Blackhawks 15-2. The final score was 39-58.

Jacob Haley led the Blackhawks with 11 points followed by Bradley Miller and Joshua Cahoon who each put up 7 points. Miller and Haley took the Blackhawks only free throws and put in 4 of 5.

Also scoring: Keaton Johnson 5; Nino Robinett 3; Mitch Parcell 2; Gunner Sloan 2 and Billy Bedson 2.
