Mike Hopkins Files in House District 92

MISSOULA - Mike Hopkins from Missoula has filed to run as a Republican for House District 92. House District 92 includes the areas surrounding Seeley Lake, Bonner, Potomac, Condon, East Missoula and Clinton.

Currently representing House District 92, David "Doc" Moore has decided not to seek reelection.

"I knocked on doors for Doc Moore's campaign and I am proud to call him my friend. With his decision not to seek reelection, I want to make sure that the people of House District 92 have a representative with a proven record of getting things done in the legislature."

Hopkins says his campaign will be focused on creating better paying jobs, protecting our civil rights and liberties, improving education and funding infrastructure.

"As a fourth generation Montanan, I want businesses to think of Montana first when they pick a new location. I want that entrepreneur to feel like they can start that small business and not be run out of town by regulatory fees and red tape. That is why I have decided to run for House District 92. I have a proven record of working in Helena to bring legislators together around common sense legislation that will bring jobs to this state and if elected I intend to champion that cause."

Working at the University of Montana, Hopkins has been involved in University budgeting at every level.

"I come from a family of teachers so education is something that is very near and dear to me. If elected, I intend to seek the chairmanship of the House Education Committee."

"Last session, I worked hand in hand with the Office of the Commissioner of Higher Education to improve education funding, approve the Montana University Systems budget, approve a well-deserved pay increase for Montana's teachers and ensure a tuition freeze for Montana College students."

During his time working at the University of Montana, Hopkins also served on a number of committees and boards including: the Board of Budget and Finance, Krelf Revolving Energy Loan Fund, University Center Board, University Budget Committee, University Council, Academic Standards and Curriculum Review Committee, Legal Oversight Committee and the University Faculty Administration Committee.

"We have enough politicians in Helena, what we need to do is elect more problem solvers. I intend to work hard to earn your support and to earn your vote."
