CORRECTION: Tax Incentive Conservation Easement Article

SEELEY LAKE - In the Feb. 4 issue of the Seeley Swan Pathfinder it was printed, “Agricultural landowners now have the opportunity to purchase a conservation easement on their land.” Conservation Easements are not purchased, they are donated for tax deductions in trade for a perpetual conservation easement on the land.

Kennecott Exploration Hosts Public Update Meeting Feb. 22

POTOMAC - Representatives from Kennecott Exploration will present an update regarding their mineral exploration work in the Copper Cliff area southeast of Potomac Monday, Feb. 22 at 7 p.m. at the Blackfoot Church in Potomac. The community is invited and encouraged to attend. 

Missoula County Parks and Trails Matching Grants Application Deadline March 14

MISSOULA - The Missoula County Parks and Trails Advisory Board announced the opportunity to apply for a Parks and Trails Matching Grant. The deadline for fall applications is Monday, March 14.

There is $32,500 of Capital Improvements and $10,000 of Maintenance funding available for community members interested in improving and maintaining public parkland outside the Missoula City Limits. Both grants require a 1:1 match, essentially splitting the project costs.

 Application materials for the Capital Matching Grant and the Maintenance Matching Grant are available online at

A hard copy is also available by visiting the County Parks and Trails Program office located at 323 West Alder in Missoula. The instructions accompanying each application describe the programs in detail and the types of projects that will be considered for funding.  

The Missoula County Parks and Trails Advisory Board will consider all applications and recommend awards to the Board of County Commissioners.
