Tis the Season

Tis the season to be jolly. Everywhere you go people are joyful, happy and cheerful.

Despite the fact that as a society we see the holidays as a joyous time, many people find the holiday season anything but joyful. Tis also the season to especially miss loved ones that have passed on. For some, it’s the season to be lonely and depressed, and for others, a season of stress and anxiety.

If you are one who is struggling this season, my heart goes out to you. I know many right here in our little community with real wounds this season—hurting from all the raw emotions the holidays have brought.

I invite you to look to Him whose life we are celebrating this season and see how He can lift you from your sorrows and heal your heartaches and pains.

The scriptures are replete with examples of Christ healing those in need. He healed the centurion’s servant (Matthew 8:5-10, 13). He healed the leper (Mark 1:40-45). He healed Peter’s mother-in-law and many others (Luke 4:38-40).

You might think this is all well and good but how can He help me today?

This Christmas, we celebrate the birth of Christ because of who He was and what He did. It is exactly what He did here on earth that gives us hope of better things to come. It is exactly what He did that can calm a troubled soul. As you learn of His life, you will see how this can help you.

Christ’s life is central to God’s plan for us. Each of us are His children—created in His image. We came here to experience this life, to experience its joys and love and to experience heartache and pain. He came here to willingly give his life for us, to rise up again, to conquer death. To provide a way for each of us to someday live with Him and our Heavenly Father again and to someday live with our loved ones, our friends and families, again.

What could be better in this life than to know that we will see our loved ones again, that we will live again with those that love us! Just knowing this can make life a little more bearable.

Jesus Christ is our salvation. It is only through Him that we can live again. Invite Him this season into your life. Allow yourself an ounce of hope in His life, His ministry and watch as His path leads you away from your sorrows and towards a peaceful heart.
