Halloween Isn't Just for Kids

SEELEY LAKE - Dressing up for Halloween is not just for kids. It is for everyone who is a kid at heart. The Seeley Lake Senior Center continued their annual tradition of a costume contest with an added pumpkin decorating contest this past Friday. Organizers Doug Richards and Rachel Wilkinson were pleased with the participation and the turn out.

The costume parade commenced at 11:45 p.m. with judges choosing five winners. First place was awarded to Chef Carol Miller; second place went to Patsy Kelly who was dressed as her opposite (dress, lots of jewelry, makeup and spiked hair versus, pants, no makeup or jewelry and regular hair); third place went to Cecil Roberts masquerading in his hobo mask; fourth place went to Mary Kenny the pumpkin; and, much to the embarrassment of half of those in attendance, fifth place was awarded to Boyd and Helen Gossard dressed as Griz Fans.

Richards provided all the decorating supplies and foam pumpkins for the pumpkin decorating contest. The winners were Carol Miller, Hope Lewis, Lois Cearley, Cecil and Rigena Roberts and Helen Gossard.

"Halloween is just a fun time to be something you are not," said Sharon Shoen who came up from Potomac to visit her cousin Mary Kenny.
