Lady Blackhawks Head to Districts

The Seeley-Swan Lady Blackhawks finished out their regular season with a split week. The Ladies lost a close match to the Valley Christian Eagles before defeating the Granite Prospectors. The Lady Blackhawks took third place in the district for the regular season and head to District 13C Tournaments in Victor with an overall record of 12-4 and in-conference record of 10-4.

Versus Valley Christian

The Lady Blackhawks traveled to Missoula to take on the Eagles of Valley Christian Oct. 22. The Eagles are one of two teams that have given the Lady Blackhawks losses this season.

After game one went to the Eagles, 21-25, the Lady Blackhawks came back with a pair of wins in game two, 25-14 and game three, 25-23. The Eagles took game four, 22-25 tying the match and forcing it to five games.

Game five and the match went to the Eagles with the same score as the last time the teams met, 13-15.

“We had a pretty balanced match and it came down to some little things that we can hopefully clean up and do better as we head into Districts,” said Lady Blackhawks Head Coach Tammy Lewis.

Paige Holmes led the Lady Blackhawks with 20 digs, 17 assists, 14 kills, 2 aces and 1 stuff block. Alex Bohlman and Delaney Holzworth also added 1 stuff block each along with 12 kills each. Bohlman and Tyana Murphy each had 2 aces as well.

The Ladies took the match in four games winning game one, 25-16, game two, 25-19 and game four, 25-18. Game three went to the Prospectors 21-25.

The victory placed the Lady Blackhawks third in the District 13C.

This Week-District Tournament

The Lady Blackhawks head to Victor Oct. 29 through Oct. 31 for District 13C tournaments.

Head Coach Lewis is excited that they are heading into the tournament with all the Lady Blackhawks healthy, uninjured and eligible to play.

“It should be some exciting and challenging district play,” said Lewis. “This team has the potential to have a great post-season run.”

The Ladies will meet the Victor Pirates in their first match Oct. 29 at 4 p.m. The tournament brackets will be posted and updated as information is available on the Pathfinder’s website: seeleyswanpathfinder.com
