Phil Shelmerdine holding an alligator that was rescued by Florida Fish and Game on a fire in Florida in 1998. The Bitterroot Hot Shots supervisor was snoozing leaned up against a tree when the state guys walked up to him holding this alligator by the tail. "When they pick them up by the tail, they arch their back so they can see forward. They walked up and my boss and they put that gator right up to his nose. He opened his eyes and he freaked out," Shelmerdine said laughing. "They had a little gator that they caught out of someone's backyard so they were showing the Montana kids. Once that happened the entire crew had to come and get a picture."
