  • Conserving grizzly bears takes self responsibility

    Jessianne Castle, Marion, Montana|Dec 3, 2020

Randy Newberg doesn’t carry a sidearm. Clocking some 100 days every year exploring the unbound—and often bear-laden—pockets of the American landscape, Newberg says when it comes to a bear attack, he’d leave his trust in an aerosol rather than a piece of lead. It’s a personal decision, one that is the right of each individual who steps foot in the woods, but for Newberg, carrying bear spray is a no-brainer. Newberg is a hunter who calls Bozeman, Montana his home. He is the producer of two popular TV shows, “Fresh Tracks” and “On Your Own Advent...

Chris Mascari, MIssoula County Weed Prevention Coordinator|Dec 3, 2020

The word on the street in the Seeley-Swan is that the Missoula County Weed District may grab the bull by the horns and implement management tactics to control the prolific aquatic invader. Common sense generally persuades the wise to side-step such audacious gossip; however, the rumors are true and the process has already begun! Of course, in this case, the proverbial bull isn't necessarily a cantankerous 1,200-pound Spanish fighting bull, but rather the alluring perennial aquatic plant species...

SEELEY LAKE - With every new year comes several factors that are inserted into an already complex economic landscape. The overall effect it will have on businesses such as grocery stores will not be known until the future, however what can be determined now is how grocery prices have changed in the last 30 years. She compared their prices to three grocery stores in Missoula: Buttrey’s, Albertons and Tidyman’s. The pri...

  • Walking in Christ

Pastor Jim Johnson, Pastor, Seeley Lake Baptist Church|Dec 3, 2020

The Scriptures frequently speak about the "Christian Walk" as a description of a believers' behavior. For example, we are told to walk as children of light, walk in truth, walk according to the Spirit and walk in love. Colossians 2:6 uses this expression to give us an important command, "Therefore, as you have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him." The question we must ask is: What does it mean to "Walk in Christ?" Here the word in does not have a literal usage, like "the hammer is in...

  • Toys on the move

Henry Netherland and Betty Vanderwielen, Pathfinder Staff|Dec 3, 2020

As society evolved, and technology along with it, superior materials, new forms of media and innovative production technology have changed the type of toys available. Some of these playthings become a fad for a short time, others come back year after year though sometimes in a changed form. One of the most beloved toys, the Teddy Bear traces its origins to a hunting trip wh...
