  • Treated Area Better Choice for the Forest

Taylor Dillree, Seeley Lake Elementary Eighth Grader|Nov 19, 2015

I'm going to compare and contrast the differences and similarities between the Auggie forest controlled and treatment areas. Things that may differ or be the same will be the fuel loads, ground cover, horizontal cover, the types and amount of trees in the area and the coarse woody debris. To start, our group looked at the ground cover of the controlled area. Litter and woody debris mostly covered the ground. Whereas in the treatment areas the ground mostly consisted of woody debris. The ground...

  • Please Paws for People and Pets

    Nov 19, 2015

How great our Fire Dept. is for entering a burning home to look for the pets after they knew all people were out. They did save a kitten with oxygen but could not save the mother cat or the little dog who hid under the bed. How sad for the family. Lets pull together to help the family. Donations can be made at Citizens Alliance Bank by making a check out to the Gonzalez Benefit. WARNING AGAIN about sugar free gum and other products which are sugar free due to the addition of XYLITOL which is in sugar free gum and other foods. Check before you a...

  • Missoula County Voted to Create Better Futures

    Addrien Marx, Seeley Lake, Mont.|Nov 19, 2015

SEELEY LAKE - In the olden days, when school buildings were in better shape, when my four children were young and I was less “old” and as I raised kids in the public school system, I recognized the value of communities that truly supported education. Then working as a teacher and years later serving as a school board member for MCPS [Missoula County Public Schools] multiple terms, the diversity of these perspectives strengthened my realization that education is only made possible by making a responsible investment, not necessarily the eas...

  • Rebuttal to Wetherell Sewer in the Streets

    Don Larson, Seeley Lake, Mont.|Nov 19, 2015

SEELEY LAKE - Realtor Kevin Wetherell’s defense of the proposed Seeley Lake Sewer Project is weak. Here are a few reasons why. First, it will not appreciably change the water quality in Seeley Lake and the Clearwater River. The District includes less than 25 percent of the lake and riverfront residences, which are most likely polluting our waters. It does not include any of the residences on the three principal creek systems in the area Seeley, Morrell and Trail Creek. It does not address upstream pollution caused by Lake Inez residents. And i...

MISSOULA - Last week the Pathfinder reported that election officials were unable to provide results of how local precincts voted on the Missoula County Public Schools’ (MCPS) $70 million high school facilities bond. The county elections office explained that the election was done by district not by precinct so the local results were not available. Additional data has been provided, based on the style of ballot used. This sheds light on how voters from rural and urban areas voted. Ballots containing only the high school bond were used by v...

  • Blood Donation Opportunity in Seeley Lake

    Nov 19, 2015

SEELEY LAKE – The American Red Cross encourages eligible donors to give blood to help ensure a sufficient blood supply throughout the holiday season. There will be a blood drive at Seeley-Swan High School Nov. 23 from 12-5:15 p.m. A seasonal decline in donations often occurs from Thanksgiving to New Year’s Day when donors get busy with family gatherings and travel. However, patients don’t get a holiday vacation from needing lifesaving transfusions. In fact, every two seconds, someone in the U.S. needs blood. To make an appointment to donat...
