  • Montana Senators Champions for Small Business

    Richard Miltenberger, Clancy, Montana|Feb 1, 2018

Small businesses can use all the help they can get, most especially representatives in Washington who stand up for them and represent their interests. Montana’s small businesses are lucky that they have such champions in Senator Tester & Senator Daines, both of whom recently signed on to legislation to delay the Health Insurance Tax (HIT). The HIT is a federal sales tax on health care plans purchased by small business owners for their employees. At $430 per per family per year, this tax directly raises the cost of health care, forcing small b...

  • Support Russ Fagg

    Tom McGillvray, Billings, Mont.|Feb 1, 2018

I have known Russ Fagg for over 25 years. When you know someone a long time, you see what they are made of. Russ served as a Montana district judge for 20 years in Yellowstone County. Judges have the title "Honorable" in front of their names. This is not just a title for Judge Fagg it is a description of his character. Russ is a man of honor and integrity. He does what he says, he is transparent and there is nothing false about him. I don't know about others, but that is a key character trait I am looking for in someone I vote for. Is he/she...

    Andi Bourne, Pathfinder|Feb 1, 2018

SEELEY LAKE – Toting a sled to top of the hill was a small price to pay for the thrill of flying down the hill behind the Marxes' home in Seeley Lake. The most adventurous tried to catch the most air off the air-time jump while the younger children stuck to the kiddie hill at the seventh annual Sledapalooza. Shana and Kyle Marx started hosting the Sledapalooza sledding party when their son Finn was three-years-old. "I have wonderful memories of sledding parties when I was a kid," wrote Shana in...

    Carleen Gonder, Seeley Lake, Mont.|Feb 1, 2018

SEELEY LAKE - To the cross country skier who allowed his dog to jump all over mine as my dog and I were trying to walk to the start of the Morrell Falls USFS road: As your dog continued to jump on and at mine, you watched but did nothing. I asked you several times to please call your dog back, since it was making it difficult for me to walk. You repeatedly ignored me and stood silently watching. Finally you yelled that it is a “dog-off-leash” area. True. But, that does not mean that dogs off-leash should not be under voice control and all...

  • Saints or Sinners - Christian Hypocrisy

William Campbell, Elder, Mission Bible Fellowship|Feb 1, 2018

A friend once told me that when he had invited a neighbor to church, the neighbor’s response was, “Why would I want to go to church? They’re all just a bunch of hypocrites.” My friend responded jokingly, “Don’t let that stop you, we’ve always got room for one more.” The reality is that non-believers often misunderstand Christians. The misunderstandings are generally based on false assumptions or false impressions. First, they may assume that Christians seem to act superior (and certainly that is an impression we might leave) assuming that t...

    Seaborn Larson, Great Falls Tribune|Feb 1, 2018

Many small rural communities in north-central Montana — like Dutton, Conrad and Choteau — put on summer festivals that raise funds for a variety of community programs. As the population in these small towns continues to shrink, organizers are coaxing along an evolution in the way these events are run to pump more If there were a way to distill the identity of these small towns into one weekend, the summer festivals along the Rocky Mountain Front would be that manifestation. Imagine rodeos and...
